Vendors call off cease work protest after CM's assurances

Khwairamband Ima Keithel Joint Co-or-dinating Committee for Peace has called off the five-day cease work protest imposed from June 29 in connection with the prevailing violence in the state, following assurances from the Chief Minister to control the violence.
The Committee further informed that the markets will resume normal operations from Monday.
Announcing this at a press meet held at Khwairamband Keithel on Saturday, Committee coordinator K Dhaneshwari said that during the two-hour long talk between the chief minister and Committee representatives on Saturday, the Committee urged for withdrawal of SoO with Kuki militants, no separate administration and ensuring the safe return or relocation of the displaced people in relief camps.
In response, CM Biren conveyed that the central government has been apprised of the need for withdrawal of SoO.
He also conveyed � the centre's assurance to safeguard the integrity of Manipur, while adding that the matter of providing adequate security to farmers has been discussed.
He then urged all to inform the government of any security loopholes or lapses.
Following the assurances from the CM, the Committee decided to call off the cease work protest, she informed.
She then urged all concerned to temporarily halt all loan/investment and other form of collections amid the prevailing situation in the state.
