Monetary aid provided; counselling conducted

Fraternity Lions Clubs Manipur Region under the aegis of Lions Clubs International District-322D provided cash assistance of Rs 15,000 each to relief camps set up at Wangbal Rice Breeder Research Centre, Lamding Higher Secondary School ana District Sports Complex, Wangjing Kondompokpi in Thoubal district on Saturday.
The aid was handed over by district governor Dr W Go-pimohon Singh, past district governors H Manikumar, M Gojendro and M Lokendro, RC Thoubal members Dr Ksh Manglem, Joysing Oinam and 0 Jugeshwor Singh and Lions Club, Thoubal president M Nabachandra Singh.
On the other hand, RIMS Psychiatry Department head Dr RK Lenin conducted a counselling session for inmates of relief camp opened at SAI Complex, Utlou.
A 5-day skill development training programme on food processing organised for displaced women inmates by Mahatma Gandhi National Fellowship (MGNF)-Mani-pur Cohort and Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ahmedabad under the aegis of Union Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship at Wangkhei Girls High School Relief Camp from June 26 concluded on Saturday.
In a release, MGNF-Mani-pur representative Dayanan-da Singh said that the training was conducted under the supervision of subject experts of Meira Foods on pickle making, candy-mak-ing and food preservation techniques.
Meira Foods proprietor Hanjabam Subhra Devi launched the programme and motivated the attendees on the importance of self-reliance in food sector, especially in the present context of Manipur.
The Cohort plans to conduct more such training programmes in coordination with training providers at different relief camps across the state, it added.
