Imphal, July 01 2023:
Maintaining that the present crisis in the state is not just a clash between two communities but an attack to the territorial integrity and identity of a united Manipur, Peace and Development Coordinating Committee (PDCC) has urged all to identify the threat and fight them.
Addressing a press meet at Manipur Press Club here on Saturday, PDCC president L joy said that the present crisis is the direct impact of the government's crackdown on illegal poppy cultivation and encroachment in reserved and protected forest areas by illegal immigrants as well as the government's policy to initiate NRC.
This are the well-known reasons behind the violence.
The state is facing a serious threat to its integrity and identity, and it is not the time to create division among the people but to unite.
Doing whatever one wants without adopting a common strategy could lead to serious ramifications in the future.
This is the time to think of the pros and cons of every action and tread the path carefully so that the issue is be diverted from its real objective, he said.
He further said that this is not the right time for the chief minister to resign and PDCC welcomes the CM for retracting his decision by understanding the public sentiment.
His resignation will throw the state and its people into the mouth of the illegal immigrants, narco-terrorists and Kuki militants, which would further lead to a full-blown civil war, he added.
