Uikey raises peace call

Governor Anusuiya Uikey has appealed to the people of Manipur to help in bringing peace and normalcy in the State.
In a message, the Governor said that she is shocked and disheartened by the unprecedented and ongoing ethnic clash which broke out on May 3 .
Saying that the violence has done irreparable damage to both the parties in conflict through killing and arson making thousands of people homeless, Anusuiya said that she strongly condemns these inhuman acts.
The Governor also pointed out that the activities of paddy cultivation which is the backbone of the economy of the State have been adversely affected by the violence as the cultivators are not in the position to work.
She then appealed to all irrespective of caste, creed and religion to extend their fullest cooperation to solve the problem through an amicable and peaceful dialogue.
The Governor further appealed to all mothers and sisters to not block the movement of security forces who have been discharging their duty for the safety of the people.
Saying that the people should not believe in rumours nor spread it, the Governor continued that all issues can be and should be solved through a peaceful dialogue.
