FESOK urges Education Department to reopen schools

The Federal Students' Organisation, Kanglei-pak (FESOK) has urged the State Government to take up adequate measures to open schools from July 10 without extending the period of summer vacation further.
At its office at Kakwa, FESOK general secretary Nameirakpam Rikesh said the Government on has many times postponed the scheduled date for reopening schools as it did not take up the required and adequate measures.
The State Education Department has announced that schools will remain closed till July 8 .
It should take up all measures to open the schools on the day without further deferment, he said.
The Department of Higher Education must also take up adequate measures to peacefully hold the semester examinations of undergraduate students which are set to begin from July 13 .
The 1st semester examinations held from May 24 to June 30 were chaotic and not peaceful.
The authorities concerned should take up strict measures this time to conduct the examinations peacefully, Rikesh said.
To hold the examinations and enable classes to resume from July 10, Rikesh said security forces must be vacated from premises of all schools and colleges.
