Sit-ins decry Centre's double standard, seek peace

Heingang Panthoibi Lampak Meira Paibi Nupi Lup organised a sit-in protest at Panthoibi Lampak on Friday denouncing Kuki militants for the ongoing crisis in the state and the Central government of being double standard.
Protestors held placards that read 'Stop playing divide & rule policy by Central government', Abrogate Suspension of Operation with Kuki militants immediately', 'We unitedly stand for the integrity of Manipur', 'Enough is enough', 'We warn Central government not to be double standard', 'Take immediate action to implement NRC', and 'No action to Kuki militants, No peace in Manipur' .
The protestors also observed a two-minute silence in honour of those killed in the ethnic violence.
Meanwhile, Yairipok Keithel women vendors on Friday suspended trade activities to demand authorities concerned bring solution to the crisis in the state.
According to a woman vendor Shima, the India Today and NE Live reports about UKLF leader SS Haokip telling BJP that they will extend support to BJP in 2017 election if demands of the Kuki's are honoured make it crystal clear who started the violence on May 3 and why it has not been resolved till today.
Hence, instead of discussing the matter on TV and social media, MLAs, ministers, CSO leaders should protest in Delhi and petition the UN to save Manipur and its people, she demanded.
On the other-hand, United Development Committee (UDC), Sangaiyumpham organised a sit-in protest at Nungphou Bazar for restoration of peace and normalcy in the state.
The protester also held placards and shouted slogans for restoring of peace and protecting Manipur's integrity.
