Assam Meiteis reach out to victims

Senior citizens of Haojai, Assam along with members of the Apunba Meira Paibi Lup based in Brahmaputra valley have reached Imphal to take stock of the current situation and gain a 'clearer understanding' of the ongoing crisis and ground reality.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club today, a spokesperson of the senior citizens of Haojai said they have visited the affected areas and provided monetary assistance to the victims of the crisis.
An appeal has also been made to the Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) to reach out and provide help to all the affected people in areas they couldn't cover during their visit.
L Bijenti, president of Apunba Meira Paibi Lup, said they have met and interacted with the affected people of Nongshum, Phayeng etc and assured them of all possible help from the community in Assam in the future also.
They have donated food and provided monetary aid to the displaced pregnant women taking shelter at Youth Hostel in Khumanlampak, she said.
While sharing the grief and pain of the affected people and bereaved families of those who have sacrificed their lives for the motherland, she appealed to the Centre and the State Government to bring about a lasting solution and restore peace and normalcy in Manipur.
