Many continue to extend humanitarian assistance to the people who have been displaced by the ongoing conflict in the State.
The Peace Committee Wangkhei Kendra under the supervision of Wangkhei AC MLA Thangjam Arunkumar, today distributed text books and other items to the people taking refuge at the shelter camp opened in Government Dance College, Palace Compound.
Speaking on the occasion, Thangjam Arunkumar stressed on the importance of education and assured that he would provide all possible help to students staying in relief camps.
He shared that the initiative to provide free books and other educational items were taken in consultation with the Zonal Education Officer Imphal East.

Highlighting that the State Government has taken steps to reopen educational institutions from June 21 onward, he said, "Admission of students staying in relief camps will be done considering their most feasible/ convenient schools" .
To help the people affected by the present unrest, DM College of Teacher Education (DMCTE), Imphal has provided relief items to Yaibilen Children Home, Keibi Sanapat, JNIMS Relief Committee, RIMS Relief Unit Team, Praja Higher Secondary School, Relief Centre Lamshang, Committee for Peace and Social Harmony, Kakching Higher Secondary School and Peace & Relief Camp Wabagai Higher Secondary School.
DMCTE Imphal also informed that the annual Community Contact & Extension Programme for this year was conducted in an inclusive manner from June 12-16 due to the present situation.
