Human chains denounce narco-terrorism, external aggression

A worldwide protest was staged today from 7 pm to 8 pm against narco-terrorism and external aggression allegedly perpetrated by Kuki militants and illegal immigrants settling in Manipur.
The far reaching protest demonstration was organised under the supervision of Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) .
Human chains were formed at different places by tens of thousands of Meeteis in Manipur and abroad such as Singapore, United States, South Korea, Japan, Russia, Germany, United Kingdom, Bangladesh, Malaysia etc and voiced their stand against narco-terrorism, external aggression and the demand for separate administration raised by 10 Chin-Kuki MLAs.

In Manipur, human chains were from Khoyum Road up to Ngairangbam Mayai Uku Road; Khum-bong to Thingel, Ching- meirong, Sangakpham, Lei Ingkhol, Mantripukhri, Kha-bam Lamkhai, Luwangsang- bam, Koirengei, Khongham-pat, Pheidinga, Tengdongyan, Mahabali, Leikinthabi, Tingri Wabagai, Potsang-bam Khullen, Potshangbam Khunou, Nilakuthi, Keikol, Achanbigei, Khabam, Ahal-lup, Mongjam, Maibakhul, Heingang, Keishampat stretch, Mayai Lambi road, Wangkhei, Singjamei, Kongba, Kakwa, Canchipur, Kongpal, Soibam Leikai, Checkon, Nongmeibung, Top Khongnangkhong, Porompat road, Kongba Mamang, Bamon Kampu, Andro Parking, Khurai Lamlong, Sawombung, Lamlai, Napet Pali, Seijang, Pangei road, Kwakeithel and different other areas by womenfolks holding torches.
Similar human chains were also formed at Uripok, Thangmeiband, Arong Khunjao, Phumlou, Lamsang, Iroisemba, Mayanglangjing and different areas of Thoubal, Bishnupur and Kakching districts.
Some of the common slogans raised at all the protest sites were "Long Live Manipur'', "Implement NRC'', "Abrogate SoO pact", "We condemn external aggression," "Keep the unity and integrity of Manipur intact", etc.
Speaking to media persons at Kongba, a Meira Paibi leader Thounaojam Kiran Devi expressed disappointment to the Centre and the State Govt for failing to control the violence in Manipur despite deployment of large companies of Central security forces.
She also accused the Centre and the State Govern- ment of being negligent.
Expressing concern over the violence spiralling out of control, specially at the foothill areas and periphery of the valley districts, Kiran Devi sought immediate and serious intervention of the Central Government to prevent further bloodshed and destruction of properties.
Over a month has passed since the outbreak of the violence but there is no respite in gunfights and arson, Kiran continued and urged the Central Govt to pave a way forward and ensure the safety of civilians.
