LAWU clarifies, apologises

Kpi, June 21 2023:
On behalf of 29 Kuki villages, Leimakhong Area Women Union (LAWA) tendered apology with regard to the torching of five houses at Leimakhong Chingmang on June 18 night.
Vehemently condemning the incident, LAWU clarified that it does not condone any form of violence or arson in and around Leimakhong area.
While tendering apology particularly to the family of Akhon Abonmai of K Lung-wuiram whose house was also burnt in the incident, LAWU vice president Hatpi Kipgen said that the union owns the mistake committed by unknown miscreants, who could be from either the Meetei or the Kuki community.
Extending solidarity to Ak-hon's family, Hatpi also said that the union understands the pain and trauma caused by the incident and assured everyone that it is committed to maintaining peace and harmony in the region.
She also expressed regret for the unfortunate incident and urged all communities to work towards maintaining peace and harmony in the region.
