Imphal, June 21 2023:
The Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) reacted strongly to the '.
forgive and forget' remark made by chief minister N Biren Singh in an interview to a television channel few days back.
Rejecting Biren's call for peace made through the interview, KIM said some wrong must have been done in order to forgive and if the apology is sincere, forgiveness is a must.
According to a KIM statement, the peace call by N Biren has caught the Kuki apex organisation in scepticism and disbelief while asking as to how the 'merchant of death' transformed into an angel of peace overnight.
What motivation or rather insidious agenda Biren had more is a matter of interest and concern for the Kukis, KIM said adding that Kukis are at the receiving end of the ongoing violence.
The KIM further asked if N Biren was hinting that he and his hardliner groups were committing something wrong by perpetrating violence against the Kukis.
Kukis want N Biren to stop giving hints and start asking forgiveness openly by admit -ting that it was him and his hardliner groups that are to be blamed for the current turmoil in Manipur, KIM said and advised Biren to be sincere.
KIM further alleged that N Biren has been changing narratives frequently regarding the ongoing violence as he first termed it as war between Kuki terrorists' and the Manipur Government.
He now changed the narrative by saying that it is a war between illegal immigrants and Manipur Government, Narco-Terrorist and so on.' Whichever way, he puts the blame on the Kukis and exposes his open dislike for them.
Kim further asked N Biren whether his adviser and MLA Vungzagin Valte, who is battling for life after being attacked by Meetei mob, is a Kuki terrorist or an illegal immigrant or Narco-Terrorist.
It further said that Biren s sincerity will go a long way in rebuilding the strained and torn relationships between the Kukis and the Meeteis.
