Imphal, June 21 2023:
A meeting was held today between the leaders of Federation of Haomee (FOH) and representatives of Kom Union at the office premises of FOH to discuss the present condition of Kom villages in the State.
A release issued by FOH informed that the meeting deliberated on the difficulties faced by the people of Kom community residing in both the valley and hill areas due to the ongoing conflict.
In the meeting, it was resolved that the Kom villages would maintain peaceful and harmonious relations with nearby villages.
It was observed that the present unrest has also impacted the Kom communities due to some fractions not accepting the fact that the Koms are indigenous people of Manipur following the clan (Yek Salai) system like the Meiteis.
The meeting further decided to take steps to prevent innocent Kom people from becoming victims of the ongoing conflict.
