Protest demonstrations continue

All Meitei Pangal Coordinating Committee organised a sit-in protest at Lilong Bazar today and passed seven resolutions.
Md Muhamuddin, convenor, All Meitei Pangal Coordinating Committee read out the seven resolutions to the gathering.
These include : to celebrate the upcoming Eid-Ul-Adha festival in a very simple manner, to oppose any demand that threatens the integrity of Manipur, to demand implementation of NRC in Manipur as a means to drive out illegal immigrants from the State, uproot drug menace from the soil of Manipur to save the younger generations, to prohibit large scale deforestation that has resulted in drastic change in climatic conditions and led to shortage of water, to cooperate with any step taken up for the welfare of society and to appeal to the Central Government to restore peace and normalcy in Manipur.
Eminent personalities such as Ningthouja Lancha and Phunindro Konsam took part in the protest.
Meanwhile, many locals from Sangaiyumpham village, including young Madrasa students, formed human chains from Puleipokpi to Dam and from Lamding to Palli Bazar raising slogans against violence and calling for peace and harmonious co-existence today.
The protest demonstration was organised by United Development Committee (UDC) Sangaiyumpham.
Speaking in this connection, Jafer Ali, president, UDC decried the call for a separate administration made by the ten Kuki-Chin MLAs.
"This has caused untold turmoil in the State.
We cannot continue to watch the suffering of the displaced families", he said and appealed to the State and Central Government to bring a resolution to the crisis.
Separately, meira paibis of Kshetri Leikai Awang Leikai, Moirang Palli, Phoudel and Kairembi organised a sit-in protest at Thoubal Kshetri Leikai today.
Social activists Ningthouja Lancha and editor of Sanaleibak daily Ningombam hemanta were present at the protest as guest speakers.
The gathering raised slogans against narco-terrorism and appealed for peace and defended the unified structure of Manipur.
