Imphal, June 21 2023:
The Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) has expressed scepticism and disbelief over the peace call made by Chief Minister N Biren What motivation or rather insidious agenda he had is a matter of interest and concern for the Kukis, said a press release issued by KIM.
"...forgive and forget" these are the exact words used by N Biren in an interview to a TV channel.
In order to forgive, some wrong must have been done and if the apology is sincere, forgiveness is a must, it said.
"We wonder if N Biren Singh was hinting that he and some sections of Meitei people were committing something wrong against the Kukis.
We want N Biren to stop giving hints and start asking forgiveness openly by admitting that it was him that is to be blamed for the current turmoil in Manipur.
He must be sincere", KIM said.
The Kuki Inpi Manipur is also appalled by the frequent change in narratives by N Biren Singh.
He had earlier said that it was a war between 'Kuki terrorists' and the Manipur Government.
He now changed the narrative by saying that it is a war between 'illegal immigrants and Manipur Government, narco-terrorist and so on' .
"We want to ask Mr N Biren whether his adviser and MLA Vungzagin Valte, who is battling for life after being attacked by Meitei mob, is a Kuki terrorist or an illegal immigrant or narco-terrorist", it continued.
Although much damage has already been done particularly to the Kukis by Biren and his loyal CSOs, his (Biren's) sincerity will go a long way in rebuilding the strained and torn relationships between the Kukis and the Meiteis, it said.
The fact of the matter is that all essential commodities meant for the hills specially for Tengnoupal, Moreh and Churachandpur are waylaid and block at places under the Meitei control and this has proved beyond doubt that whatever promised for all displaced persons by the Central Government would definitely be derailed and misuse to the detriment of the deserving people in the process, it alleged.
