Governor inaugurates pre-fabricated house

Governor Anusuiya Uikey on Monday inaugurated a pre-fabricated house named Mandop Yumpham Relief Camp at ISTT, Khurkhul in the presence of Social Welfare minister Heikham Dingo Singh, who is also the local MLA, along with two MLAs and Imphal West DC Th Kirankumar.
Following the opening of the pre-fabricated house, the Governor spoke with the internally displaced people (IDPs) in the relief camp and enquired about their grievances.
Assuring them that the state government and the Raj Bhavan will provide all necessary support, she also distributed relief supplies.
While highlighting the continuous humanitarian services of the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) throughout the country, the Governor thanked the President of India and the Union Health Minister for sending supplies for the affected people in Manipur.
In partnership with the IRCS, Manipur, the Governor, who is also the president of IRCS Manipur State, distributed relief packages consisting of blankets, mosquito nets, kitchenware, and hygiene kits to the IDP families.
Additionally, she gave Rs 1,000 to each of the camp's pregnant women, lactating mothers, and patients with serious illnesses.
She personally delivered eatables and blankets to the affected families.
The charity supplies were distributed to 610 IDPs from 157 families.
Governor Anusuiya explained to the IDPs during her speech that shelter homes are being built for them as a temporary measure and that they will be relocated permanently to their individual homes once normalcy is restored in the state.
She added that the government would provide compensation for individuals who have lost their houses, possessions, etc., due to the ongoing unrest in Manipur.
She also mentioned that the state has been visited by the relief and rehabilitation committee led by Justice Geeta Mittal.
The Governor conveyed that support and cooperation of the people of the state are facilitating steady return to normalcy.
Further stating that central and state governments are making every effort to bring peace and normalcy back as soon as possible, she said to prevent any untoward incidents, a large number of security personnel has been deployed and security stepped up in sensitive areas around the state.
She said that there are extensive and sufficient security measures in place to ensure the safety and security of the people.
Uikey stated that in light of the Supreme Court order regarding the protection of religious places and IDPs' properties, encroachers should be ordered to remove their encroachment immediately.
If they fail to do so, the offender would be held in contempt of court for failing to follow the Supreme Court of India's orders.
She appealed to the people to cooperate with the district administration to bring peace and normalcy back to the state and to rid themselves of animosity.
The Governor advised the IDPs to enrol their children in neighbouring schools and directed the district administration to start skill development training programmes at the camp.
Later, the Governor visited the Phayeng High School relief camp and spoke with IDPs there.
She enquired about their grievances and assured them of maximum assistance from the state government and the Raj Bhavan.
She also gave lactating mothers and patients Rs 1000 each.
The Governor distributed relief items including Jumbo (storage) box to the 12 arson affected families and blankets to the IDPs and distributed eatables to the children there.
A total of 178 IDPs from 62 families availed of the relief items.
