NPP remembers PA Sangma

The 76th birth anniversary of National People's Party (NPP) leader and former Lok Sabha Speaker Late Purno Agitok Sangma popularly known as PA Sangma was held today at Naoremthong.
During the observance organised by NPP, Manipur, party president MLA N Kayisii led in paying floral tributes to the photo of PA Sangma.
Former Deputy Chief Minister Y Joykumar , Wangoi AC MLA Kh Loken, Kshetrigao AC MLA Sheikh Noorul Hassan, Oinam AC MLA I Nalini, NPP Youth Front, Manipur State president N Jayanta, ex-MLAs Y Irabot, S Subashchandra and other party leaders also paid their homage to Late PA Sangma.
At the function, N Kayisii said that PA Sangma was a remarkable leader who founded NPP.
Saying that NPP is a National party recognised by Election Commission now, N Kayisii said that NPP has seven MLAs in Manipur and runs the Government in Meghalaya.
He said that NPP has its MLAs at Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh too and had opened its units at different parts of the country.
On being asked about the opinion of NPP regarding the recent Assembly session, N Kayisii said that he is not in the position to comment on the matter for now but will do whatever is necessary after consulting with the party president.
National vice president of NPP Y Joykumar, on the other hand, responded that discussing the Manipur issue will take over a month.
He further said that serious intervention of the Centre and discussion with all stakeholders are necessary to end the violence.
On being asked if NPP will field its own candidates in the upcoming Lok Sabha , Joykumar responded that the party hasn't held any discussion on the matter as of yet but will contest on its own if it is in position to win the elections.
Meanwhile, Joykumar said that NPP was born in Manipur but it got the regional party status after PA Sangma adopted it.
He continued that NPP has its units in Bihar, Punjab and some other States and will field candidates in the upcoming Assembly elections of Jharkhand and Rajasthan among others.
Saying that NPP has been extending all possible assistance to restore peace and protect the integrity of Manipur as a partner of the BJP led Government, Joykumar added that NPP submitted a memorandum to the Union Home Minister Amit Shah in the initial stage of the conflict too and met the latter while he was in Imphal too.
