IMFL, beer worth Rs 20 lakh destroyed at Ukhrul Town

Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) and beer (cans) worth around Rs 20 lakh were disposed of by the Wung Tangkhul Region (WTR) law & order department at Harkuithe, Ukhrul Town on Friday.
Convener of WTR (L&O) NSCN/ GPRN Leiyaza said that their cadres have destroyed 304 cases (3600 bottles) of IMFL liquor including rum, whiskey, scotch and beer worth around Rs 21,74,400 in the local market in full public view and in the presence of TMNL president Themaso and executive committee members of Harkuithe locality of Ukhrul Town.
He informed that a truck carrying IMFL was intercepted at Nungshangkong area of Ukhrul yesterday.
The IMFL consignments include rum, whiskey, scotch and beer belonging to one Rarungla of Ramva village of Ukhrul district, he added.
Leiyaza further informed that the said person was found to be the main supplier of IMFL in Ukhrul Town.
Saying that the IMFL were brought mainly for sale during the Christmas season, 'which is against the Christian faith', he added that people involved in the matter have been penalised after thorough investigation.
Announcing the ban on IMFL, he said that any person found violating the restriction will be dealt with appropriately.
