Longmai Area CSOs convene emergency meeting

An emergency joint meeting of the Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) Longmai Area was held today at Khumji Community hall under Noney District.
The meeting was held in connection with the incident of indiscriminate firing at the residence of Jangdonlung Kamei and David Kamei in the intervening night of August 9 and 10 at Luangchum (Awangkhul) Village in the district causing destruction of properties of both the households.
The meeting was attended by Rongmei Naga Council Manipur; Rongmei Naga Students' Organisation Manipur; Villages Council Longmai Area, RNCM Longmai Luangrian, Rongmei Naga Luh Phuam Manipur, Inpui Naga Union, Luangchum Pei (Customary Court); Inpui Naga Women's Union and Customary Court RNCM.
The meeting condemned the incident in the strongest terms and resolved to endorse the clarification sought by the Luangchum pei (Customary Court) and the culprits should compensate for the losses incurred.
It was further decided that no armed personnel representing any group should seek shelter in the civilians dominated area and should refrain from firing or armed conflict within the proximity of these areas.
The meeting also decided that the public having subjected to enough of such self-infliction among brethren, shall no longer tolerate any act in defiance to the law/customs of the land by any group/individuals operating in the area.
