'Unfortunate that none of state MPs utter a word in Parliament'

Takyel Kolom Leikai Apunba Nupi Lep general secretary N Kabita Devi said that none of the MPs from Manipur made statement in the Parliament regarding the ongoing violence in the state and their inaction indeed was very unfortunate.
Speaking to media persons on the sidelines of protest against gang-rape of a Meetei woman in Churachandpur on May 3 at Takyel Kolom Leikai, here on Friday, N Kabita Devi said that the violence that erupted on May 3 has completed three months and the issue was discussed in the Parliament.
However, none of the MPs from Manipur spoke about the violence in their own state, she said and questioned the reason behind the MPs' complete silence in the House when their own state is burning.
While stating that a fresh case of gang-rape of a mar ried Meetei woman on the day the ongoing violence erupted on May 3 in Churachandpur has emerged, N Kabita Devi said that all those involved in the crime must be punished as per law.
Demanding strigent punishment of all those involved in gang-rape of the Meetei woman in Churachandpur, Heinoubok Women Welfare Association, NC Road Heinoubok, Changangei Uchekon Chaokhat Thourang Nupi Lup, Heingang Panthoibi Leikai Meira Paibi Lup and Moiranghanuba Youth Development Club also staged protest.
