Brinda Karat, others call on Uikey

Brinda Karat, ex-MP, CPI (M) and Srimathi Teacher, Ex-MP along with six others called on Governor Anusuiya Uikey at Raj Bhavan today.
The visiting team gave a ground report of the people staying in relief camps and the need for proper sanitation and supply of essential food items along with basic medicine for the inmates.
With the re-opening of the schools in the State, the team informed that the general public at present have been facing financial difficulties in paying school fees for their children, specially those reading in private schools and urged the Governor to look into the matter.
The team also requested the Governor to ensure safety specially for women and children during this conflict.

The team visited 18-20 relief camps and shared details of relief camps which are not being run properly.
The team also expressed concern about disposal of dead bodies and shortage of specialized doctors in hill areas.
The Governor assured the team that efforts are in place from the Central and State Governments to bring the situation under complete control and immediate action will be taken for the grievances and concern put forward by the team today.
The team appreciated the efforts of the Governor during the present crisis by paying repeated visits to affected areas and this has brought a huge relief among affected people.
On the other hand, in a gesture of gratefulness to Governor Anusuiya Uikey for her indomitable and selfless services at this time for the people of Manipur, a team of painters from Kakching led by Thoithoiba Mayanglambam along with Sagolsem Ronel, Khumukcham Ratan and Tekcham Nando presented a hand painted portrait on a bamboo winnower (Yangkok) of the Governor at Raj Bhavan today and apprised the difficulties faced by artists due to the prevailing law and order situation in the State.
The Governor assured the team of artists that she would extend necessary assistance from her office.
