Sit-in protest staged

Imphal, February 18 2024:
A sit-in protest was staged today at Yaiskul Moirangkhom demanding justice for Takhellambam Rakesh (48) who was found dead with bullet injury inside DM University campus on Saturday.
The sit-in protest was organised by the JAC formed in connection with the death of Takhellambam Rakesh, s/o Late Ibohal of Moirangkhom.
Speaking to the media, JAC convenor Leimapokpam Santibala said that Rakesh was a civilian, a well mannered man who took care of his family by running a shop.
Claiming that Rakesh's death was not a suicide, she raised strong suspicion over the manner in which the dead body was left on the roadside with bullet injury.
She also urged the authorities concerned to conduct the post mortem examination of Rakesh's body with full video coverage.
Santibala further shared that the Imphal West Police has taken up a case in this regard.
Placards with the slogans such as, "We condemn killing of Takhellambam Rakesh", "Award befitting punishment to the culprits", "Rakesh's death was not a suicide", "Rakesh is a civilian", etc were displayed at the sit-in.
