Imphal, December 17 2010:
In view of the upcoming Christmas celebration the All Manipur Tribal Union (AMTU) has urged today the State Govt to expedite pay ment of the prolonged salary delay, especially to the State's Christian employees to enable them to celebrate the festival with gusto, befitting the auspicious occasion.
AMTU while sending out special advent Christmas greetings to every individual of Manipur and elsewhere saying, "May the Messiah Lord Jesus be born within each and every soul of believers spiritually to sustain peace of mind and socially conceptual prosperity to attain Salvation through this ensuing sacred Christmas," has regretted Govt employees have not been paid although the Christmas is just round the corner.
This, a message received from the tribal body said, "will hamper the spirit of the auspicious festival" .
It is a Christian tradition to donate both money and materials for the success of the auspicious festival and it is a Christian culture to cover the poor, underprivileged, orphans and widows financially, who would otherwise not able to afford to partake in the festival and get sufficient share of festive distributions, the tribal body said.AMTU went on to say that the inability to pay salaries on time will expose poverty which will ultimately degenerate the spirit of the auspicious occasion.
Requesting the State Govt to clear off the pending salaries of its employees before the Christmas in the interest of the Christians, AMTU said, lest this will amount to torment of Christians and its spiritual persecution.
