Speaking at the occasion, the Tourism Minister, TN Haokip apart from noting the scenic beauty and location of the Park not far from the capital city, expressed that to attract domestic and foreign tourists requisite infrastructure including hotels and tourist sites need to be developed.
While pointing out that in developed States and countries there had been strong emphasis on preservation of nature and that meeting venues have shifted from the traditional closeted rooms to natural parks, the Minister sought public cooperation in the Government's vision and plan for development of parks at Lamlai, Heingang and Kakching areas.
The is also planning to set up parks at Ukhrul, Thoubal and Jiribam sub-division, he added.
In his address, N Biren lashed out at certain organisations that had been spearheading campaigns for distorting the State's physical structure in the pursuit of forming separate homelands.
While claiming that the Union Home Minister P Chidambaram during his recent visit to Manipur had blunted the intention of some organisations by stating that there would be no compromise on Manipur's territorial integrity, the Minister desired that all the communities living in Manipur should contribute their mite in strengthening the age-old fraternal bonds rather than scheming divisions among the people.
Ridiculing charges of neglecting the hill areas by the Government, Biren advised the public to introspect what people's representatives elected from the hill district constituencies have done for benefit of the hill people.
It would be unethical and unjustifiable if the Government is blamed for inefficiency of the elected representatives, he asserted.
Biren also observed that only a negligible section of the hill people are raising hue and cry as had been illustrated when the Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh was accorded a warm welcome to Tamenglong district headquarters by a large number of people.
Cultural presentation and traditional martial arts show were the other highlight of the Park inauguration programme.
The Park has ornamental flower garden and plants/trees having medicinal value.
