Shifting and plot verification of women vendors to the newly inaugurated second market shed of Khwairamband Bazar was carried out today in the presence of Works Minister K Ranjit Singh.
Talking to mediapersons on the sidelines, Ranjit assured that action would be taken up against any officials if they were found involved in issuing fake vendor licences.
Explaining that there are in all 14 platforms in the second market shed, Ranjit said that with exception to those who have already been given vendor licences, no new plot would be allocated to anyone who somehow managed to get new licence.

In case, any fake vendor licence were detected then an investigation would be carried out to find out who are the officials involved in such racket and necessary action would be taken up against them, the Minister assured.
After completion of shifting and plot verification in all the three market sheds, the women vendors would be allowed to carry on with their normal trade simultaneously on one day, the Minister added.
The Minister further informed that after all the women vendors from the temporary market sheds have been shifted to the three newly constructed market sheds, around 2000 licence holder vendors who are currently carrying out trade in front of Cheirap Court, along Nagamapal and over Kasturi bridge would be accommodated.
The remaining market portion would be pulled down and until construction of a fourth market shed, a flat-roofed makeshift market would be constructed for the street hawkers.
The Government is sympathetic of all the people who are coming to the Khwairamband Bazar to earn their daily income.
So, in consideration of the increasing number of vendors, UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi has assured that a sum of Rs 72 crores for the construction of a fourth market shed, the Minister said, adding that the Government has proposed construction of the fourth market shed at the site where Tombisana High School is currently situated.
