BJP MLAs leave for Delhi

Imphal, August 19 2026:
A team of BJP MLAs and BJP Manipur Pradesh leaders left Imphal for Delhi today to take up the people's demand for updating the National Register of Citizens (NRC) with respect to Manipur before initiating any census operations in the State with Central leaders.
MLAs Khwairakpam Raghumani (Uripok AC), Khongbantabam Ibomcha (Lamlai AC), Paonam Brojen (Wangjing Tentha AC) and Tongbram Robin-dro (Thanga AC) and BJP Manipur Pradesh NRC & Census Committee convenor K Saratkumar left Imphal for Delhi this afternoon.
Sources say that many more BJP MLAs will leave Imphal for Delhi tomorrow.
Together they will urge Central leaders to first update the NRC before starting any census operations in Manipur, said the sources.
