AR celebrates Motherhood Day, aids IDPs

Assam Rifles organised various events on April 11 to celebrate National Motherhood Day with the local community.
At Sehlon, Kovang, New Samtal and Sajik Tampak of Chandel district, the day was celebrated with lectures on health and nutrition of mothers and children followed by medical check up and fun activities for women and children numbering 329, informed PRO IGAR (S) .
Assam Rifles also distributed wool and essential items to relief camps at Komlak hong and surrounding villages of Imphal West district on April 11 .
The distribution programme laid a foundation for interaction between Assam Rifles and the Internally Displaced People (IDPs) and acted as an interface to identify the problems and hardships faced by the IDPs.
A total of 500 IDPs staying in relief camps at Komlakhong village benefitted from the assistance, the release further said.
Meanwhile, Assam Rifles organised a relief distribution event at Oinam relief camp in Bishnupur district on Friday during which sweets and stationery items were provided to around 120 displaced persons, including children and youth.
Assam Rifles also conducted an awareness lecture on 'Skill India Programme' at Hiangtam village, Churachandpur district on April 10 with the stated objective to identify skills in youth, provide skill training and employment opportunities to them.
Through this lecture, Assam Rifles hoped to guide the younger population about the benefits of a better life away from drug abuse and nefarious activities, as well as to encourage them to pursue careers.
Seventeen youths and villagers benefitted from the Skill India Programme, said the PRO in another release.
