Sit-in staged to demand ST status

Bishnupur, April 12 2024: A sit-in demonstration was staged at Terakhongshangbi on Friday demanding inclusion of Meetei/Meitei in ST list.

The protest was jointly organised by World Meetei Council (WMC); Salaai Kanba Lup (SKL) Terakhongshangbi Unit, Moirang; Indigenous Develop -ment Mission (IDM), Moirang; Kege Moirang Kanba Apunba Lup (KEMKAL); Kege Moirang Kangleirol Kanba Lup (KMKKL), Moirang; and Terakhongshangbi and Khudekpi Meira Paibi Ima Lup, During the sit-in, the participants chanted slogans in support for the demand for granting recognition to the Meetei/Meitei as ST and sending rec-' ommendation on the same to the centre before conduct of the Lok Sabha polls.
