No need to elect BJP candidate : Cong
Source: The Sangai Express

Imphal, April 12 2024: The Congress party has categorically stated that there is no need to send a candidate of the BJP to Parliament again as they have failed to raise a single word on the floor of the House.

Addressing a poll meeting at Kwakta Sandhong Bazar today, Congress candidate in Inner Manipur Parliamentary seat Dr Angomcha Bimol Akoijam said that the coming election is very important as it can decide the fate of Manipur.

He claimed that it is the BJP which instigated the violence between Meitei and Kuki people.

Dr Bimol also expressed disappointment over some section of people accusing him of having multiple wives.

Former Chief Minister O Ibobi said that Manipur has become a chaotic State in different areas.

Claiming that the BJP Government at the Centre could have ended the conflict in Manipur before it spiralled out of control, Ibobi added that BJP Government, however, seems to have given a free hand to the people to kill one another.

Cautioning that the BJP may employ muscle and money power fearing defeat in the election, the former Chief Minister asked the people to stand against all kinds of threat.

Sugnu AC MLA K Ranjit, on the other hand said that Union Minister of State for External Affairs Dr RK Ranjan didn't utter a single word on Manipur violence during Parliament sessions simple because Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah restricted him to do so.

Saying that Chief Minister N Biren has also been befooling the people by presenting himself as someone who loves Manipur dearly, the Congress leader asked the Chief Minister to stop showing his love for the State at the time of Lok Sabha election.

AICC-in charge of Manipur Girish Chodankar said that the people of India has been divided sharply in the last 10 years under BJP regime.

Saying that the ensuing Lok Sabha election is very important, he sought support from the masses to defeat the BJP.

Congress candidate Dr Bimol Akoijam is a very qualified person and he definitely will play a big role in ending the conflict, Girish said.

He also said that the Congress and its partners will give employment opportunities to uneducated youth if elected to power.

The AICC leader also claimed that Rs 8,500 will be given to unemployed people every month.

People now realise that the assurance given by the Prime Minister to give employment opportunities to 2 crore youth a year was a lie, Girish added.

Rs 1 lakh will be deposited every year to the bank accounts of women who don't have any source of income, Girish stated.
