20th Hill Districts Badminton Championship concludes

The 20th edition of Hill Districts Badminton Championship-2022 held at Multi-Purpose Indoor Hall, Rikhumai Taphou came to an end yesterday in the presence of Minister for Power, Forest, Environment & Climate Change, Th Biswajit who is also the president of Manipur Badminton Association as chief guest.
Wangkhei AC MLA, Thangjam Arunkumar; Mao AC MLA L Dikho also attended the programme as guests of honour and Karong AC MLA, J Kumo Sha as the functional president besides ex-MLA Mairembam Prithviraj Singh; Pukhrambam Bilash, Director, Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy; IK Muivah, IPS, IGP (Admin) and different CSO leaders.

Speaking as the chief guest, Biswajit stressed on the importance of games and sports and its health benefits that keep illnesses at bay.
He further said he entered into the Badminton Association not to make a platform for himself or raise popularity but to promote sports and to encourage sportspersons.
Noting that National leaders are all praise of the contributions of Manipuris in the field of games and sports in the country, he also exuded confidence that Manipuris will continue to shine in the future as well with the growing infrastructure development.
Sports only promotes oneness and unity, he continued while expressing happiness over the achievements of 3 players of HDBAM who have brought laurels to the State from various National level tournaments.
Karong AC MLA, J Kumo Sha also expressed happiness over mass participation in sports from hill districts and expressed hopes to see great personalities from the state in future.
ML Kaishungbou, MPS, Addl Superintendent of Police, Senapati in his welcome address stated that the Hill Districts Badminton championship opens the door for players to visit different districts.
He also expressed gratitude to the Manipur Badminton Association for their continuous support and encouragement to the Hill District Badminton Association, Manipur.
An exhibition match between the chief guest team and Hill District Badminton Association, Manipur team was played before the final match.
The championship witnessed more than 600 entries and the next championship is scheduled to be held in Churachandpur district next year.
