Irrigation canal washed away by swirling water
Cyclone Sitrang ravages paddy fields

Ukhrul, October 28 2022:
Strong wind accompanied by heavy rain destroyed paddy fields, jhum fields and also washed away an irrigation canal at Pusing and Chahong village under Kamjong district.
The cyclone affected many paddy fields in Luicham areas of Pusing, Khoirah jhum field at Chahong Khunou village and an irrigation canal that supplied water to Pusing village.
KT Wungreithei Pusing, village secretary informed on last Tuesday that many paddy fields were inundated and the most affected village was Luicham.

The heavy rain and storm also destroyed a huge chunk of jhum fields at Chahong village in Khoirah hillslope under Kamjong Block, Thanmi said.
According to him, about 120 acres of jhum fields which produced more than 8000 tins of rice were damaged at Chahong Khunou village.
The damaged jhum fields belong to 26 families.
Chahong Khunou village is situated in between the International Border Pillar (IBP) No 114 and 115 of Kamjong district.
