Boy drowns, another rescued; man succumbs

Imphal, October 28 2022:
A 7-year old boy, who went missing after falling into the Sengmai River at Kakching Yaikhom Pareng section on October 26 along with another 8-year old boy, was found dead on Thursday while the latter was rescued shortly after the incident.
The deceased has been identified as Kshetrimayum Nganba Singh, son of Ksh Nabakeshor Singh of Kakching Mayai Leikai Yaikhom Pareng.
According to police, locals managed to pull out Kshetrimayum Silheiba (8), the other boy who fell into the river, before any misfortunate happened, and continued to launch search for Nganba Singh.
Nganba's lifeless body was found on Thursday afternoon about 100 metres from the spot he fell during a joint operation carried out by Kakching district police, SDRF and the locals, added the police.
Meanwhile, a man found unconscious on Thursday at an auto rickshaw parking area at Khurai Lamlong Bazar under Porompat police station passed away shortly after admission in a hospital the same day.
The deceased has been identified as Aghabanmayum Herojit Singh (43) son of late Jati of Lairikyengbam Makha Leikai.
According to police, Herojit suddenly lost consciousness and collapsed at the parking around 4 pm on Thursday.
Some people present there immediately rushed him to JNIMS hospital but could not be save in-spite of immediate treatment given to him.
An unnatural death case has been registered at Porompat police station and body handed over to his family members after conducting post mortem at JNIMS Mortuary, the police added.
