Concern raised over emergence of pseudo scribes

Editor of The Sangai Express (Manipuri edition) Khogendra Khomdram has expressed concern over the emergence of many pseudo journalists in Manipur, claiming that publications of unverified news pose a serious threat to established media houses.
Khogendra is also the president of Editors' Guild Manipur (EGM) .
He made the statement at the 62nd birth anniversary of Khelen Thokchom organised by Khelen Thokchom Trust held at Press Club.
During the observance, Taorem Bishwajit of Sanaleibak Daily was announced a fellow of Khelen Thokchom Media Fellowship 2022 - 23 on "Challenges in Sustainable Agriculture in Manipur Limited Paddy Land Resources" .

Khogendra continued that the EGM, AMWJU and DIPR are closely monitoring the emergence of many self style journalists in Manipur but no decisive decisions have been taken as of yet to counter it.
Saying that many organisations holding fellowship programmes for journalists to enhance their capabilities is laudable, the EGM president maintained that the contribution made by Khelen Thokchom as a journalist was immense.
AMWJU president Wangkhemcha Shamjai also attended the programme.
He stressed on the need to focus on investigative reporting to give an insight to many of the pressing issues.
Khelen Thokchom Trust advisor & trustee Irengbam Arun and founder Thokchom Memcha Devi also attended the programme.
The gatherings offered floral tributes to the photo of Khelen Thokchom.
