Susindro, Sanajaoba celebrate Chakkouba in Bangladesh

CAF&PD minister L Susindro Meitei and titular king of Manipur Rajya Sabha MP Leishemba Sanajaoba celebrated 'Ningol Chakkouba' in Bangladesh by organising a feast for women of Meetei community of the country at Manipuri Cultural Complex (MCC), Tetaigoan Adampur, on Thursday.
The programme organised jointly by MCC Bangladesh, Manipuri Youth Forum (MYF) Bangladesh and Patriotic Writers' Forum, Manipur under the aegis of minister L Susindro was marked by presentation of Manipur's handloom products as gifts to the women.
Speaking on the occasion as chief guest, L Susindro informed that he visited Bangladesh as part of the outreach mission of chief minister N Biren to hear issues of Manipuri diaspora residing in various parts of the world and to have a direct interaction with them.
On the other hand, MP Leishemba Sanajaoba expressed happiness on witnessing that the Manipuri community in Bangladesh has been preserving the ancient customs and traditions all these years.
The celebration was also attended by The People's Republic of Bangladesh former additional secretaries Sashi Kumar Singha and Kongkham Nilmoni Singha, MCC Bangladesh president L Jayenta Singha, Patriotic Writers' Forum Manipur president Naoroibam Khamba Luwang and MYF Bangladesh president Hijam Sushil as guests of honour.
As part of their visit to Bangladesh, Susindro and Leishemba Sanajaoba prayed at Ima Ujao Lairembi shrine in Adampur Konagao along with meeting the Lai Committee.
Minister Susindro also donated Rs 20,000 to the Committee for this year's 'Lai Haraoba' ritual at the shrine.
The leaders also met Manipuri Bishnupriya community living in Buramara, Bangladesh during their tour.
