Elite Tournament : PTRC, CYCLONE cruise to sixth straight victories

Both PTRC-Patsoi Part IV and CYCLONE-Thangmeiband registered sixth straight victories in the ongoing 7th MNCA W Prahlada and W Ramananda Elite Tournament today.
At Model Hr Secondary and Oriental College ground, PTRC-Patsoi Part IV notched up a huge 114 run victory over MPSC, Manipur Central Jail.
PTRC posted a commanding total of 236 runs for 8 in 40 overs after electing to bat first courtesy half centuries from Ngariyanbam Johnson and Jotin Pheiroijam.
PTRC then bowled out MPSC for 122 runs in 35.2 for the big win.
Ngariyanbam Johnson provided PTRC early flourish scoring 53 off 71 balls by pairing with Khangembam Santosh (24) before he was caught out by Potsangbam Bonem off the bowling of Gelson Singh Thoudam for the second wicket.

Jotin Singh Pheiroijam then led the batting charge before he holed out to Thongam Somorjit Singh off Sarangthem Shangkar's bowling for the fourth wicket at 81 runs (off 49 balls, 9 fours and 3 sixes) as the team was just a run away from 200 mark in 35.3 overs.
It was the turning point of the innings as Sarangthem Shangker fetched the following three wickets including two in the last over and setting up Loitongbam Shitaljit's run out of the 8th wicket in the last delivery of the last over.
In the chase, MPSC had a stuttering start and were reduced to 9/2 in 4.5 overs with RK dismissing Ngangom Sudesh and Sagolshem Sunil cheaply.
Wickets kept falling as Deepak, Rohit Sharma Aribam and Khaidem Joyraj picked up two wickets each to further reduce MPSC to 98 for 8 before RK Rex bounced back to swept the remaining two wickets to wrap up the chase at 122 in 35.2 overs and completed his four wicket haul.
Taorem Jeem Singh with an unbeaten 34 was the highest run getter for MPSC followed by Potsangbam Bonem (19) and Maibam Bijoykumar (11) .
Pheiroijam Jotin who smacked 81 off 49 runs was adjudged man of the match.
Elsewhere at Khangabok Part III Cherapur Public Ground, CYCLONE-Thangmeiband clinched a comprehensive 102 run victory over REYS-Nagamapal.
CYCLONE racked up 173 runs for 9 wickets in allotted 35 overs riding on a half century from skipper Kishan Laishram and held REYS to 71 in 20.1 overs for the easy win.
Kishan Laishram came to the rescue after CYCLONE had a disastrous start as they slumped to 46 for 5 in 13 overs as Basir Rahman (3/16) and Romario (3/39) wreaked havoc, and knocked 66 off 71 deliveries before he was was undone by Romario for the 7th wicket as the scoreboard read 148 in 32.2 overs.
Kabrambam Homendro also added 36 runs before he fell to Sougrakpam Shangkar who also removed Nongmaithem Suraj to complete his two wicket haul (2/27) .
In reply, REYS faltered from the beginnings and succumbed at 71 runs total in 20.1 overs as Loktongbam Santosh clinched three crucial wickets for 18 runs in his spell of 7 overs while Bikash Singh, Longjam Ronald and Aditya Das picked up two wickets each.
L Santosh of CYCLONE who led the REYS batting collapse was eventually adjudged man of the match.
There will be no matches tomorrow in the wake of floodlight inauguration at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium.
