National Science Day observance concludes

National Science Day observance organised by Manipur Science and Technology Council (MASTEC), which began from February 28, concluded at MASTEC Complex, Takyelpat, here, on Saturday.
Prizes of different competitions organised for students were distributed during the closing ceremony, which also had a science exhibition.
Science and Technology commissioner M Yaiskul, former vice-chancellor of Manipur University professor C Amuba, MASTEC director Dr L Minaketan and Science & Technology director Homila Hongrei attended the valedictory ceremony as members of the dais.
Speaking at the event, MASTEC scientific officer Chanam Sarat reminded that February 28 is observed as National Science Day in memory of Indian physicist professor CV Raman, who was known for his work in the field of light scattering and contribution made in advancement of physics with his discovery of the Raman Effect.
The day is observed with the objective of promoting scientific temperament among the students and youth.
Several competitions based on science and mathematics were also organised as part of the observance, he said.
