Many taken ill due to food poisoning

Jwalamukhi Battalion extended medical aid to villagers of Chalwa village, Kangpokpi district who suffered from food poisoning during a cultural feast in the village on Friday.
Out of nearly 700 villagers who had gathered for a prayer cum feast in the village around 6:30 pm on Friday, substantial numbers of them complained of abdominal pain and starting throwing up around 10 pm.
Local CSOs and other eminent residents approached COB Gelnel seeking urgent medical aid, said a source, adding that COB, Gelnel of Jwalamukhi Bn under Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) provided immediate medical assistance.
An AR team led by a doctor rushed to the village and administered lifesaving drugs in time to avert a massive medical emergency.
On thorough examination by the medical team, the plausible cause was ascertained to be food poisoning, the source informed.
