Imphal, March 04 2023:
The ATSUM has alleged that the recent recruitment of LDCs in RIMS of which results were declared on March 3 violated the reservation norm recommended by the DoPT, Government of India in 2005 .
Speaking to media persons at Adimjati Complex, Chingmeirong today, ATSUM general secretary SR Andria said that the ATSUM strongly condemns the recruitment results declared yesterday as it flouted the reservation quantum prescribed by the DoPT, Government of India for SC, ST and OBC with regard to appointment to Group C and Group D posts.
As per the reservation quantum fixed by the DoPT after taking into consideration the State's population profile, reservations for SC, ST and OBC in recruitment of Group C and Group D posts should be 3 per cent, 34 per cent and 13 per cent respectively while the remaining 50 per cent is unreserved, Andria said.
Moreover, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (North East Section) wrote to the then RIMS Director in 2019 to abide by the reservation quantum prescribed by the DoPT.
In response to the ministry's instruction, RIMS Deputy Director (Administration) issued an order in 2022 whereby it was declared that RIMS would abide by the reservation quantum prescribed by the DoPT, he said.
Further, the Parliamentary Committee of the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes and the RIMS authority held a meeting after which a notification was issued and it gave details of the reservation norms which should be followed in appointment to different posts of RIMS, Andria said.
But the result announced yesterday for recruitment of LDCs flouted the reservation quantum and only one ST candidate was selected, the ATSUM general secretary said.
He then demanded nullification of the recruitment result with immediate effect.
He said that they would submit a representation to the RIMS authority, higher authority and the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes regarding the matter.
He also sought the Chief Minister's intervention so that the prescribed reservation quantum is followed in RIMS.
He added that ATSUM and tribal students would be compelled to launch different modes of agitation if their demand goes unheeded.
