Bishnupur District Hospital Management Committee urges to resolve staff shortage issue

The Hospital Management Committee of the 50-bedded Bishnupur District Hospital has called upon the relevant authority to meet the staff shortage of doctors and nurses at the hospital.
Moirangthem Bilkee, member, Hospital Management Committee made the statement while speaking on behalf of the Committee at the cleanliness drive held at the campus of Bishnupur District Hospital organised by the Hospital Management Committee under the supervision of District Health Society.
Stating that the Committee is making efforts to upgrade the hospital to a 100-bedded hospital, Moirangthem Bilkee highlighted the shortage of nurses and a specialist doctor in medicine.
He also thanked the participation of DC Bishnupur staff, SP Bishnupur police personnel, Fire Service personnel, Bishnupur Municipal Council staff and PHED staff at the cleanliness dive.
Noting some improvements made at the hospital, he said that four security personnel had been employed at the hospital.
Further, he said that people do not need to travel to Imphal and spend huge sums of money at the private hospitals to receive good quality medical attention, while adding that the residents can receive medical treatment at a low cost at the Bishnupur District Hospital.
He also pointed out that the hospital was no longer a referral hospital.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Kh Sheityabala, Medical Superintendent, Bishnupur District Hospital shared that the hospital now has facilities for digital x-ray and a brand new operation theatre with facilities to handle two cases of child birth per day has started operation.
She also pointed out that there are three dialysis machines set up under Pradhan Mantri National Dialysis Programme which provides dialysis treatment to six persons in a day and roughly 100 people in a month.
However, the hospital lacks manpower and to add to this, some staff members have also retired, she maintained.
As such, she called upon the State Government to look into the matter and meet the staff shortage to ensure that the hospital continues to function smoothly.
Notably, Nepram Bimola, member, Hospital Management Committee also participated in the cleanliness drive.
