NIT team meets top army officers, visits AF station

Members of the National Integration Tour (NIT) organised by Modi Battalion of IGAR (South) from Machi to Kolkata comprising 20 students from Machi Government High School on Saturday interacted with GOC-in-C Eastern Command Lt General RP Kalita.
In a release, PRO IGAR (S) informed the students shared their experience of the tour so far with the Army commander and also expressed how it is beneficial in shaping their character and future.
They also presented the song 'Come NIT - Unite, be one' at Fort William which was applauded by all.
In his address, the Army commander highlighted the importance of youth in nation building and motivated the students to always aim for excellence; He also appreciated the endeavour by Assam Rifles for organising such tour and encouraged for more such initiatives in the future.
The visit of the NIT team is expected to further enhance the students' overall personality by giving them a wide variety of experiences and instil a sense of pride in their nation and become a responsible citizen.
Students representing their school were happy after interacting with the Army commander, the PRO said.
The student delegation also interacted with GOC Bengal Sub-Area (SA) Maj Gen H Dharmarajan on Saturday and shared experience of their exposure trip with the GOC.
The General officer also highlighted the importance of youth in nation building, motivated the students to al ways aim for excellence and appreciated the endeavour by Assam Rifles.
On the other hand, the NIT team visited Air Force station, Barrackpore, one of the premier establishments of the Indian Air Force on Saturday.
The students were taken on a tour of the station where they saw Mi-17 V5 and were given a demonstration on how it works.
The students were amazed to see the vastness of the airfield and the precision With which the Air Force operates.
They were also informed about the various career opportunities available in the Air Force and how to join it including the educational qualifications, age criteria, and other requirements for joining.
The students were thrilled to meet Air Force officers and to see the various helicopters used by the Air Force.
The tour was organised to promote national integration and to expose the students to the Indian Air Force and its assets.
The officers also shared their personal experiences and answered questions from the participants about their professional life.
The National Integration Tour has left a lasting impression on them and has inspired them to strive for a better future for themselves and for their country.
Assam Rifles through its various initiatives continue to promote national integration and encourage young people to join the Armed Forces.
The visit of the National Integration Tour to Air Force station, Barrackpore was a testament of the commitment and it is hoped that more such tours will be organised in the future to promote national unity and awareness about the country's Armed Forces, the PRO added.
