Call raised for making collective efforts for promotion of agriculture

The 43rd Sthapana Diwas (foundation day) of Bharatiya Kisan Sangh (BKS) was held today at Manipur Press Club today organised by BKS Manipur.
The programme was graced by Directorate of Extension Education, Central Agricultural University (CAU) Imphal Director, Professor Ph Ranjit; BKS Manipur president N Induboson Singh and RSS Manipur Prant Karvah S Tarunkumar Sharma as the presidium members.
Speaking as the chief guest, Professor Ph Ranjit emphasized on the need of making collective efforts by the Agriculture Department, Directorate of Extension Education, Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and other allied agricultural related departments scientists and experts for the promotion of agricultural activities and welfare of farmers.

Stating that the agricultural land of Manipur is very less, he maintained that all should take up measures to ensure that these agricultural lands remain green throughout the year thereby practising multiple cropping and other similar methods for the welfare of the people especially farmers.
Highlighting the adverse impacts of poppy cultivation, he maintained that the poppy cultivators can grow productive crops which are highly in demand such as corn etc which will eventually help in enhancing their economic status.
Professor Ph Ranjit also assured that the Director of Extension Education, CAU Imphal; ICAR and other Departments concerned are always ready to extend best possible help towards such developmental measures.
Addressing the gathering, BKS Manipur general secretary T Dara expressed that the country will experience less problems when the farmers who are working sincerely to feed the masses lead a stable life with improved economic and social status.
Expressing the desire to make Manipur an organic State, he appealed to the farmers and scientists to focus on this aspect by taking up the necessary steps.
Highlighting that Bharatiya Kisan Sangh has been making sincere efforts for the farmers' welfare and to make the country a self-reliant one in terms of food production, he said that the incumbent Government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also working earnestly to achieve this vision.
