State girls storm into KIYC football final

Imphal, February 08 2023: Babita Oinam netted a brace to help Manipur cruise past Madhya Pradesh 3-0 on their way to the final of the Khelo India Youth Games U-18 girls' football competition.

The state girls were dominant from the word go but goals eluded them in the initial stages until Babita broke the Madhya Pradesh' s resistance in the 28th minute to give her side the lead.

After break, Manipur continued their offensive upfront and their effort paid off in the 55th minute with Bijeya Laishram on target.

Then it was up Babita who closed out the game with her second goal in the 81st minute as Manipur enjoyed a comfortable 3-0 semifinal win en route to the final where they will meet West Bengal on February 10 at Mulna Football Stadium, Balaghat, Madhya Pradesh.
