ESU lift 1st MNCA U-14 Boys Tournament trophy

ESU (Wangkhei) beat PTRC (Patsoi) by 22 runs in the final of the 1st MNCA U-14 Boys Tournament played at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium on Monday.
Put in to bat, ESU's batting order looked unsettled as they failed to cope with PTRC's disciplined bowling attack and ended up managing 123 in 25 overs.
Hanjabam Naoba Sharma (17), Bishomcha Khundrakpam (17), N Kenedy (14), M Amitkiyon (12), Hanjabam Doba Sharma (11) and Soibam Venus Singh (10) were the batters who got into double digits for the Wangkhei side.
Ngambarel Naoshekpam led the PTRC attack with a haul of 3 wickets as Salam Richie claimed 2 wickets and Henba Paonam bagged 1 wicket, ESU, however, bowled some good line and length to defend their total.
Wilting under pressure, PTRC batted through 25 overs but fell short by 22 runs.
Salam Richie (20), Robinson Sougaijam (17) and Stoneson (15) were the batters who could score in double figures in their futile run chase.
Man of the match, N Kenedy was the pick of ESU's bowlers by racking up 4 wickets off his 5 overs as Hanjabam Donba Sharma and Hanjabam Naoba Sharma chipped in with a double each and Bishomcha Khundrakpam took one in their side's tile triumph.
Winners ESU pocketed Rs 25,000 in prize money and runners-up PTRC received Rs 15,000 .
PTRC's Salam Richie won both the man of the series and highest run-scorer awards.
He scored 394 runs and took 7 wickets in 7 innings.
ESU's Bishomcha Khundrakpam (highest wicket-taker) and PTRC's Robinson Sougaijam (emerging player) were other individual prize winners of the tournament.
MPA claimed the fairplay team award.
