Sapling plantation programmes organised

Imphal, August 08 2022:
More than hundred tree saplings were planted today at Punshilok located at Langol Hills and the nearby hill slopes.
The tree sapling plantation programme was organised by the Rotary Club of Polo City Imphal as part of Van Mahotsav under the theme 'Go Green Manipur' in association with Wildlife and Habitat Protection Society (WAPS), said a press release by Rotary Club of Polo City Imphal.
Speaking at the occasion, former president of Rotary Club and MLA of Wangkhei AC, Thangjam Arunkumar lauded the dedicated efforts of WAPS members for developing Punshilok which is home to many rare tree species of great medicinal value with the objective of preserving the natural environment.
He also assured to extend the best possible help from his side in the future course of actions for the cause and donated monetary aid for today.
President of Rotary Club of Polo City Imphal, Ajit Bakliwal, secretary, Rajnikanta Ningthoujam and members of the club also attended the programme, added the release.
IEDUCO
In a separate event, as a part of the ongoing campaign 'Sanghallasi Kangleipak' held under the aegis of All Manipur United Clubs Organisation (AMUCO), a sapling plantation programme was held at Nongpok Chingkhei Umang Lai complex located at Phaknung Khul today.
The plantation programme was organised by the North Imphal United Clubs Organisation (NIUCO), a unit of Imphal East District United Clubs Organisation (IEDUCO) in association with Phaknung Social Youth Club and Phaknung Village Development Committee, said a press release by IEDUCO.
The programme was attended by AMUCO's advisor, Ningthoujam Shyamsunder, lEDUCO's president, Takhellambam Dwijo Mangang, secretary general of Social United Clubs' Organisation, Maibam Premjit Meitei, president of Phaknung Social Youth Club, L Priyojit and president of Phaknung Village Development Committee, Jilla along with the local club members.
It may be noted that IEDUCO has been organising plantation drives in different locations in Imphal East district in association with the local clubs under the aegis of AMUCO.
Till date more than two thousand saplings have been planted, said the release.
