Two held for supplying arms to UG groups

Imphal, August 08 2022:
A combined team of 4 Assam Rifles and Imphal West District Commando arrested two people involved in supplying of arms and ammunition to underground groups, along with weapons from Kanglatongbi Bazar on August 6 .
The two arrested people have been identified as Firoz Zeanlan (56) s/o (L) Kongou Zeanlan of Tokpa Village, Kangpokpi district and N Disuraibu (40) s/o (L) N Poukengambou of Kadi Part-1 of Tamenglong district.
According to a police report, on receipt of reliable information about the presence of illegal arms traders in Kanglatongbi Bazar at around 2pm on August 6, the combined team carried out an operation and arrested Firoz Zeanlan and N Disuraibu at around 3.10 pm.
On questioning, the duo revealed that they were engaged in trading illegal weapons and supplying them to various underground groups.
They further stated that one Etao of T Khullen had given them a 9mm pistol in the morning of August 6 and instructed them to give the weapon to another unidentified person.
Based on the instruction, the two of them travelled to Kanglatongbi Bazar.
The team seized one USA made 9mm pistol with a magazine containing two live rounds.
Both the arrested people and the seized weapon have been handed over to Sekmai PS for initiating further course of legal action, the report conveyed.
