Kangpokpi, August 08 2022:
Kuki Students' Organisation (KSO) Moltam Block has vehemently condemned the burning down of an Eeco Van belonging to Sahei Dairy at Salam Village along Sagolband-Sangaithel Road in Imphal West District by unimown miscreants on August 6, 2022.In a release, KSO Moltam Block informed that the miscreants also snatched the Aadhaar Card and mobile phone of the driver.
"They also threatened the driver and two others including the mother of the driver", it added.
The organisation questioned the motives and why the said vehicle which was used to supply an essential item was set ablaze.
"The motive behind the incident of arson is yet to be ascertained, however, the incident took place just few hours after the news of burning down of two vehicles at Phougakchao Ikhai & Churachandpur were widespread which left us suspicious and created fear-psychosis amongst the public", it added.
Expressing anguish over the failure of the State Government to book the culprit, the student body said, "the incident at Salam Village along Sagolband-Sangaithel Road had caused widespread disturbances to public tranquility and communal harm creating fear psychosis amongst the public of the area, which is unfortunate and uncalled for" .
KSO Moltam Block appealed to the State Government and authorities concerned to book the culprits within 72 hours and compensate the vehicle that was burned down.
The organisation also urged the Government to restore peace, harmony and trust among different communities in the area which was once known as 'Peace Zone' .
The student body further appealed to the public to maintain peace and not resort to any form of violence.
