144 CrPC clamped in Jiribam for 2 months

Jiribam, August 08 2022:
District magistrate, Jiribam W Malemnganba Chenglei has announced imposition of Section.144 of CrPC, 1973 in the entire district for a period of two months with effect from 6.30 pm Monday, prohibiting assembly of five or more people, which is likely to turn unlawful and carrying of sticks, stones, firearms without a valid licence, weapons or any objects which can be used as offensive weapons.
In an order, DM Malemnganba stated that the decision was taken after reports from reliable sources that there is likelihood of serious breach of peace, disturbance to public tranquillity and grave danger to human lives and properties in the district from some anti -social elements.
The order will not apply to the government agencies involved in the enforcement of law and order and the maintenance of essential services.
People desirous of taking out rallies or processions for socio-political, customary, religious objectives or for entertainment within the scheduled area should apply for permission from DM Jiribam office, it further mentioned.
