Imphal, August 08 2022:
The United Committee Manipur (UCM) has appealed ATSUM to call off the indefinite economic blockade on highways and has also suggested taking -up democratic steps in raising their demands.
UCM IPR secretary Leisemba Lamaba said this in a press release issued today and also appealed the Government to bring an amicable solution to the ADC Bill stand off at the earliest.
No party or no particular community should at any point of time try to interpret the provisions present in the Article 371 (c) of the Indian Constitution for the benefit of their own community only, Leisemba added in the press release.
He further said that any provisions present in the ADC Bill should be for the welfare and development of Manipur as a whole and not just for a particular community.
UCM further said that agitations by a particular group for their own interest should not affect the interest of other parties and added that UCM will not remain a silent spectator if such agitations threaten the integrity of the State.
Leisemba also alleged the Government for turning deaf ear to the demand of a highway protection force to protect the lifelines of the State.
Meanwhile, Youth For Peace and Progress Manipur (YPPM) has extended gratitude to the Thadou Inpi, Thadou Students Association, Joint Tribes Students Association, Hmar Students Association, Zomi Students Federation, Naga Organisations and other organisations which have taken a stand against the economic blockade called by ATSUM.
