Ranji Trophy Plate Group Semi-final : Manipur falter in first innings, Sikkim take 148-run lead at Stumps on Day 2

Manipur batters faltered yet again and slumped to a first innings total of 166 runs against Sikkim's 229 in a semi-final match of the Ranji Trophy Plate Group at Lalbhai Contractor Stadium, Surat.
Resuming their second innings at 46 for 1 (in 15 overs), Manipur managed to add 120 runs in 48.4 overs today for an innings total of 166 runs, 64 runs shy from taking the lead against Sikkim.
Langlonyamba (8) fell today for the second wicket today to Bijay of Sikkim who also fetched wickets of P Prafullomani (1), B Rahman (31) to leave Manipur struggling at 69 for 4 in 31.2 overs.
Manipur's slump continued with Priyojit being dismissed by Lee Yong Lepcha for the fifth wicket before Shah was undone by Tarun Sharma to reduce Manipur to 118 for 6 in 45.2 overs.
Bijay claimed Jotin Pheiroijam (25) for his fourth wicket in the game and returned with best figures of 4/18 in 10 overs.
After a gradual decline Kishan Singha and Rex gathered 40 runs off 67 for the 8th wicket before Rex was bowled out by Sumit for 17.Lee Yong Lepcha then removed Bikash Singh (2) for the 9th wicket before Sumit removed Kishan Singha for 27 runs off Arun's catch to end the innings at 166 runs in 63.4 overs.
Commencing their second innings, Sikkim were 85 for 4 in 37 overs at Stumps on Day 2 leading Manipur by 148 runs.
They had a sloppy start to their second innings with Jotin removing Arun for 3 in the fifth over before Kishan spun web around the following three batters to reduce Sikkim to 9 for 4 in 8 overs.
Kishan Singha trapped Tarun Sharma lbw for 1 in the second delivery of the 6th wicket and removed Pankaj (4) and Nilesh Lamichaney (0) in the third and the last deliveries of the 8th over.
Ashish Thapa (30) and Sumit (44) were unbeaten after 37 overs as the day was called.
