Ukhrul, January 18 2023:
The Ukhrul unit of BJP has urged the National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) to complete the construction of the two-lane highway from Yaingangpokpi to Ukhrul Finch Comer at the earliest.
Workers of BJP Ukhrul District on Tuesday held a joint meeting with the Project Director of NHIDCL, SDC, Addl SP Ukhrul, AR Post Commander and locals of Ramva, TM Kasom and Shokvao regarding the construction of NH-202A at Ramva Village Community Hall.
At the meeting, BJP Manipur Pradesh spokesperson MK Preshow Shimray highlighted the inconvenience being faced by the people while traversing along the 'dilapidated stretch' and urged NHIDCL to expedite the two lane highway construction work from Yaingangpokpi to Ukhrul Finch Comer.
MK Preshow, on the other hand, said that the Central Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has upgraded Imphal-Ukhrul road to four-lane highway under Act East Policy.
He also mentioned that Chief Minister N Biren Singh has been promptly responding to implementation of many development projects including the construction of the two-lane highway.
The BJP spokesperson also lauded the families whose lands were affected in taking up the project for generously giving the land at minimal rate.
During the meeting, the land affected villagers expressed their grievances on the payment of compensation while NHIDCL officials assured to continue the construction work on war footing to complete the project on time.
The meeting reportedly resolved to apprise the higher authorities of the problem being faced by affected families of the project.
