Zougal Memorial Volleyball Tournament concludes

Churachandpur, January 18 2023: The grand finale of the 22nd Zougal Memorial Shield Volleyball Tournament 2023 was held at Kamdou Veng playground on Wednesday.

Saikot MLA Paolienlal Haokip was the chief guest of the event, with H Doungel, director NYK Churacahndpur, and Singngat MLA Chinlunthang attending as the chief host and the guest of honour, respectively, besides leaders of the Zou community.

In the men's volleyball final match, KYLSC (Kachikhul) beat YMDO (Heirangoithong) 18-25, 25-14, 25-20, 25-22 to lift the winners' trophy.

The champions took home Rs 50,000 in prize money as the runners-up got Rs 25,000 .

YMDO's K Joyson Singh was adjudged the best setter while KYLSC's Santakumar was named the best spiker of the men's tournament.

On the other hand, ZoWHRO (B Team) registered a 15-25, 25-11, 25-23 win over ZYO (Tuaitengphai Unit) to become the champions of the women's competition.

ZoWHRO were given Rs 40,000 for their title while runners-up ZYO received Rs 25,000 .

ZoWHRO's Chinghaumuan walked away with the best spiker award as ZYO's Rose Neinou earned the best setter trophy.

During his speech, MLA Paolienlal Haokip appreciated the organising committee for their successful 22nd edition of the tournament, while stating that the Zogal was one of the longest and deadliest wars against the Bristishers and asked one and all to follow the footsteps of their forefathers.
